During our trip to the Slovak Karst, we visited the Silica Ice Cave (that got its name from the nearby village, not from the chemical compound) that lies at 503 m a.s.l., making it the lowest-lying ice cave in the temperate climate zone. We did not enter the protected cave, but made some photos outside. Location: Silica. Date: 23.10.2013.
Während unserer Exkursion in dem Slowakischer Karst haben wir die Eishöhle von Silica besucht (die den Namen vom nahegelegenen Dorf, nicht von der chemischen Substanz bekommen hat), die auf 503 m ü. d. M. liegt und so die am tiefsten gelegene Eishöhle der gemäßigten Klimazone ist. Wir haben die geschützte Höhle nicht betreten, nur einige Fotos von außen gemacht. Ort: Silica. Datum: 23.10.2013.
A Szlovák-karszton tett kirándulásunkon meglátogattuk a Szilicei-jégbarlangot, mely 503 méteres tengerszint feletti magasságban fekszik és ezzel a mérsékelt égöv legalacsonyabban fekvő jégbarlangja. A védett barlangba nem léptünk be, de kívülről készítettünk pár fotót. Hely: Szilice. Dátum: 2013.10.23.

The microclimate around the cave is extremely cold, no wonder that the Alternate-leaved Golden Saxifrage (Chrysosplenium alternifolium) were still found here in the autumn:
