In June I drove up to Mount St. Helens from Portland, Oregon mainly to visit the Ape Cave. The cave is located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and with its 4023 m length, it is the longest continuous lava tube in the continental United States. The Ape Cave is sustains a population of the endangered Mt. St. Helens grylloblattid or ice crawler, a member of the rarest insect order on the planet. Location: Ape Cave. Date: 22.06.2017.
Im Juni fuhr ich nach den Mount St. Helens von Portland, Oregon hinauf. Mein Hauptziel war die Höhle Ape Cave zu besuchen. Diese Höhle befindet sich im Gifford Pinchot Nationalforst und mit einer Länge von 4032 m ist sie die längste Lavagrotte des US-Festlands. Die Ape Cave beherbergt eine Population der gefährdeten Mount St. Helens Grillenschaben, Vertreter der seltensten Insektenordnung der Welt. Ort: Ape Cave. Datum: 22.06.2017.
Júniusban az oregoni Portlandból elautóztam a Mount St. Helens-re, főleg azért, hogy az Ape Cave nevű barlangot felkeressem. A barlang a Gifford Pinchot Nemzeti Erdőségben található és 4023 méteres hosszával az egybefüggő államok leghosszabb lávacsöve. Az Ape Cave-ben még megmaradt a veszélyeztetett Mt.
